WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE?

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  Luke 12:34

In our demanding world, financial prosperity can be a good thing, but spiritual prosperity is profoundly more important.  Certainly we all need the basic necessities of life, but once we meet those needs for our families and ourselves, the piling up of possessions creates more problems than it solves.  Our real riches of course, are not of this world.  We are never realy rich until we are rich in spirit.  Yet we live in a society that leads us to believe otherwise.  The media often glorifies material possessions above all else:  God most certainly does not.

Martin Luther observed, "Many things I have tried to grasp and have lost.  That which I have placed in  God's hands, I still have."  His words apply to all of us.  Our earthly riches are transitory;  our spiritual riches, on the other hand. are everlasting.

Do you find yourself wrapped up in the concerns of the material world?  If so, it's time to reorder your priorities and reassess your values ....now!

It's sobering to contemplate how much times, effort, sacrifice, compromise, and attention we give to acquiring and increasing our supply of something that is insignificant in eternity.  Anne Graham Lott
